am Sunday 13/1/08	Rescheduled Festive Dressage Competition at Broadwindsor Cancelled in December due to bad weather... We will be holding a raffle in aid of the Air Ambulance charity which Jack Bailey will be running. All entrants as last year will have a free ticket included in their entrance fee, more available on the day or before from Linda Paget or Gill Randall. We will be offering the usual homemade goodies and mulled wine as well as tea coffee etc. Decorating the horse/pony/rider is not compulsory but there will be a little something for the most festive entry judged by Annie Beattie. 13th February 7.00pm	DRESSAGE TO MUSIC Come along to Dowerfield, Long Bredy, on Wednesday 13th February 7.00pm, without your horse, and see how to work it all out, and the easiest way to find music to suit your horse/pony. Then at a later date get together to see if you music you have chosen does suit your horse. All this is helping you prepare for the Area Dressage to Music at Kingston Maurward on May 26th. 16/2/08	BRC Senior Team Showjumping Volunteers needed!!! Rachel Freeman says: we need at least 3 for a team, preferably 4. I am happy to do it myself as i have some youngsters. It would be helpful, but not essential, if the riders had some sj experience...but must be confident jumping 2ft 9. There is a first round of 2ft6 then a second one at 2ft9. . Its going to be fun, not fiercely competitive as we will be a non-qualifying team and aimed at giving people a bit of experience competing for the club. Of course if we do well then a bonus! The Hand is at Clevedon (j20 m5) so a bit of a trek! She has a knack of making very technical information easy to understand and fun. Each session is 1/2 hour and is one-on-one, or if you prefer you can book a double session and work for the whole hour with a friend. You can choose any of the following sessions, or a mixture: POLE WORK- IN HAND OR RIDDEN Celia will help you to assess your horse and then devise specific polework aimed at suppling/building him up according to his particular needs. You will leave knowing what your horse's weaknesses/issues are and with a polework plan to continue at home. Useful for competition horses, unbroken youngsters and hacks. ASYMMETRY - RIDDEN Celia will check you out for horse and rider asymmetry - you will help your horse find his own self carriage and freedom of movement by making slight adjustments to your own posture. Everyone is welcome to come and take part, what ever standard, you will ride a test and then discuss it with Sue. Tests Preliminary 13 or Novice 21 (or higher if wished) Jo has copies of the tests. Saturday 17/5/08 Horses to arrive 10am, talk starts 10.30am	Anna Knight - Zoopharmacognosy! It is said that horses in the wild will seek out the plants and substances they need to stay healthy or to heal themselves. The bad news is that our paddocks restrict this process; the good news is that we can provide all the bounty of nature in a pot - well actually hundreds of pots! If your horse has problems - physical or behavioural - and you've ever wished you could help him in a simple, effective way that takes account of his horse nature, this could be the day for you. Anna Knight (Dip. Ingraham Institute of Zoopharmacognosy) will guide you through the use of oils and plant extracts, showing you how to work with your horse's powerful sense of smell and innate drive to heal himself. The day will include a talk on Animal Aromatics, a demonstration, handouts on oil safety/how to offer/oils for the tackroom, and an individual consultation with each horse present (max 6 - book in now!). Sunday 13/7/08	DRESSAGE INSTRUCTION WITH GILL LONGHURST Gill is a very experienced and well respected dressage judge, she has a very approachable and friendly manner so these classes are a fantastic opportunity for everyone, starting with the beginners and progressing to the more experienced rider. Gill will take you step by step through the test, she will help you understand what the judges are looking for and advise you on how to improve. At the end of each lesson you can finish by riding the test, after which she will talk you through your score and explain what the comments actually mean. These classes are not designed to be frightening or stressful, hopefully they will encourage more riders to realise that dressage can be for everyone. Please note that the places are limited ,and as with the other clinics that we’ve recently held they do get booked up quickly, so please phone as early as you can to avoid being disappointed. There is plenty of room and various obstacles to play with: logs, barrels, cones, hula hoop, washing line, pond, bridge, steep slopes and banks, jumps, tarp, arial jangles, pigs, tree squeeze, pedestal. You and/or your horse can camp, or just drop in as and when you like. There wont be any instruction, but we'll have some friendly challenges each day for Levels 1-3. There is wonderful off-road hacking here, maps available for those who want to head off for a while. Bring picnic/bbq food for yourselves, fencing if you want your horse to stay over. Saturday 6/9/08 2.30pm start	CLEAR ROUND/ ACCUMULATOR This fun afternoon will be divided into two parts starting with a simple clear round which will be set at a height of 2’3-2’6 The second part of the afternoon will be run as an accumulator round, the first class will be at a height of 2’-2’3 ( with an added joker fence ) The second class will be set at a height of 2’3 -2’6 ( again with a joker fence ) You can jump any fence as many times as you like, building up points as you go, all of which will be set against the clock. Sat 20/9/08 am	Ride a Test On the morning of Saturday 20th September at Matravers, Uploders (which is near Bridport) you have a chance to run through a Dressage Test of your choice and discuss it with the judge afterwards. This is a good chance to "have a go" in front of an experienced judge and competitor. If like me you struggle to learn a test it can be called for you. Sat 8/11/08 1pm start	LUNGEING AND LONG REINING DEMONSTRATION WITH MILLIE TONKS If ever you wanted to know what all the different gadgets that can be used whilst lungeing your horse can do, and how to use them properly then this demo is for you!! Millie will show how to fit them correctly and what can be achieved by using them. She will also demonstrate the art of long reining and explain what benefits it can produce. The demonstration will last for about one and a half hours and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers during and after. Tickets will include tea or coffee and light refreshments.
